We believe in what we do here. We realize how difficult overcoming addiction can be. And we wouldn’t be doing this if we didn’t think we could be effective in helping our patients break the cycle of addiction, once and for all. That’s what drug treatment is all about. So, what is “drug treatment”? Simply stated, treatment is a process of helping a person overcome addiction. That process includes group counseling, one-on-one therapy, family counseling, workshops that teach stress management and coping skills, as well as relapse prevention. Nutritional guidance, physical therapy and exercise, and meditative processes (such as yoga, guided visualizations, and focused breathing) are also offered at Florida Recovery. While not part of the treatment process, per se, our program offers a broad range of recreational activities, as well—from golf to deep-sea fishing. |

We want our patients to enjoy the experience of treatment. There is serious work involved, but it’s not “all work and no play.” For many addicts, the first stage of treatment is “detox”—a period of time (usually one to three days) where the patient is monitored by medical staff, while the chemical remnants of whatever drugs they may have used are released from the patient’s system. Medications are administered to offset the symptoms of withdrawal that would otherwise be extremely painful and unpleasant. You’ll find another page on this website that deals in depth with the subject of detox. This brief description is only meant to identify one aspect of this overview of the treatment process. |

Patients usually remain in treatment between 30 and 90 days. Research has proven that a patient’s chances of remaining drug-free are directly correlated to the length of the treatment program. In other words, the longer a patient stays in treatment, the better their odds of avoiding a relapse in the future. When a patient is admitted to Florida Recovery’s program, he or she meets with a counselor for a comprehensive examination and interview. The results from this exam will allow the counselor to make a personalized recommendation on the ideal length of treatment for that particular patient. That same counselor will remain assigned to the patient during the entire length of his or her treatment. This unique “single point of contact” provides our patients with the highest level of individualized attention, access to information, and quick responses to questions or concerns. |
